Please allow us to introduce us.
The wastewater industry has seen how nutrients have exposed the limits of existing solutions. Nexom designs and supplies the next wave of proven technologies for cleaner water so municipalities and industries can confidently meet and exceed every treatment need.
When wastewater plants get tighter regulations (or even when their aging infrastructure can no longer meet existing regulations), their engineers turn to us to help them produce low carbon, phosphorus or nitrogen concentrations. We offer proprietary technologies like the SAGR, which allows lagoon-based plants to produce non-detect ammonia levels in <1°C water, or like Blue PRO reactive phosphorus filtration, which allows Citronelle AL to beat the lowest phosphorus limit in North America (0.022 mg/L). These, along with the rest of our proven portfolio, make us a leader in clean water technologies.
Responsive service and technologies: Our team strives to make our customers' lives easier by providing responsive service, with design support and drawings that keep projects on track. Our portfolio of proprietary technologies is responsive as well, focused on addressing the contaminants and nutrients that regulators are targeting today and into the future.
At home in the cold: We understand cold water presents unique dynamics that are often believed to be insurmountable. We know they can, because at our office in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, we annually see the coldest winters of any North American city of over 500,000 residents, and its in those conditions that our technologies have been proven.
Research and performance: We only promise what we have proven we can reliably deliver. We can provide years of data from dozens of full-scale installations, have been approved by the most rigorous regulators on the continent, and have the testimony of recognized academic authorities. All this, to give you the confidence that what we supply will work.
As Nexom, we ensure all wastewater plant operators sleep easy at night through a relentless commitment to proven innovation, best in class employees and customer service.
Nexom is a new name for a rich history that starts in 1997, with the founding of Nelson Environmental. In 2016, with the addition of filtration technologies and a broader focus designed to serve customers better, the company was reborn as Nexom, with industry veteran Tom Pokorsky joining Nelson Environmental founder Martin Hildebrand to lead a united team that is excelling on all fronts.
In fact, it is thanks to this team that Nexom was named the Best Employer in Wastewater by Hunter Crown, the water-focused recruiting and executive search company.
If you want to know where our greatness begins...
Tom is a water veteran who joined Nexom as CEO in early 2016, Among other CEO appointments, Tom has served as President of ITT Industries – Advanced Water Treatment. In this role, and his previous Presidential roles with the predecessor companies Sanitaire Division of ITT Flygt and Water Pollution Control Corporation, Tom led the growth from several million to $350M.
Martin Hildebrand, P.Eng, is both President and Head of Research and Development for Nexom. He started Nexom's founding predecessor, Nelson Environmental, in 1997, and in the subsequent 20 years he has focused on pioneering cold-water municipal and industrial lagoon-based wastewater treatment systems. That experience includes research and wastewater technology development as well as process design and optimization of over 200 projects across North America and the Middle East. He is a Civil Engineering graduate of the University of Manitoba.
Another veteran of the water industry, Matt Korcinsky provides leadership to Nexom's financial and investor-relations teams. Matt has executed numerous financings across a variety of industries and led several enterprises focused on water to high growth. Matt earned his Bachelor of Science degree in finance and management from Georgetown University and received his MBA from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame.
Katharine Oswald, B.Sc. PMP, leads the Nexom Operations team. As the company’s second-longest serving employee (after Nelson Environmental’s founder), Kathy has managed or supervised around 400 projects and brings a wealth of experience that enables the company to leave the fulfillment of its promises in the capable hands of her field operations, procurement and project management teams. Kathy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from the University of Manitoba.
As Director of Engineering, Lionel Ens, P.Eng..guides a team of top design engineers who assist outside consulting engineers by providing final design-ready drawings that integrate Nexom's exclusive technologies to solve wastewater treatment problems. Lionel has worked with first Nelson Environmental and now Nexom for 15 years, and previously worked as a consulting engineer for a number of years before that. Lionel is an Engineering graduate of the University of Manitoba.
Merle Kroeker, P.Eng, is the Project Development Manager with Nexom, leading a team of Regional Managers that have coordinated hundreds of projects over his 13 years with the organization. He is directly involved in wastewater treatment process design and optimization, with substantial experience handling lagoon-based municipal and industrial wastewater treatment projects across the United States and Canada..
