Nexom®, an Axius Water company, partners with SUEZ® to bring enhanced Aerobic Granular Sludge (AGS) to North American Market

Winnipeg, MB, Canada (Sept. 8, 2025): Nexom, an Axius Water company, announced today the launch of Cyclor® Turbo, the proven SUEZ technology for advanced wastewater treatment in a compact footprint.

Cyclor® Turbo improves on AGS, a fixed-level SBR with fast-settling densified sludge that requires half the footprint of conventional activated sludge (CAS) and is now available in North America exclusively through Nexom. Cyclor® Turbo enables facilities to meet stringent effluent standards of 10 mg/L Total Nitrogen, <15 mg/L Total Suspended Solids, and 1 mg/L Total Phosphorus, without relying on chemical reagents.

SUEZ Tech Solutions CEO, Joshua Cantone, stated, “SUEZ is excited to partner with Nexom on bringing Cyclor® Turbo to the North American market. This initiative aligns with SUEZ’s overarching strategy to bring its innovative technologies into the marketplace, fostering environmental stewardship and delivering enduring value to the environment and the communities it serves.”

Key Benefits of Cyclor® Turbo:

  • 50% smaller footprint than CAS systems
  • Optimized for shallower basins than other AGS systems, making it ideal for retrofits and greenfield installations (optimal biological height from 5 to 5.9m)
  • Reduced operational costs through lower reagent use, less hydraulic grade thanks to its fixed level and no energy required for sludge densification
  • Four times the sludge settling velocity of CAS systems
  • Proven global performance

“Cyclor® Turbo is a game-changer for wastewater treatment,” said Martin Hildebrand, Nexom founder and Axius Water’s chief technology officer, “because it efficiently delivers high-performance nutrient removal in a compact, cost-effective package. We’re excited to bring this proven solution to North America.”

Nexom is currently constructing a full-scale demonstration facility in partnership with the East St. Paul, Manitoba, wastewater treatment plant, and invites interested parties to schedule a tour and see Cyclor® Turbo in action.

Cyclor® Turbo will be featured in Nexom’s WEFTEC booth 3813 in addition to being featured in a WEFTEC Product Launchpad presentation on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 4:00 PM.
