Peter has pretty much been with us since the beginning and is a vital part of our Nexom team!

Q: How long have you worked for Nexom?

A: 23 years

Q: How did you get to the position you are in now? You’ve worked for Nexom for quite a while, so it’s safe to assume you’ve held other positions before this one.

A: I was working for Nelson River who owned Nexom (what was then known as Nelson Environmental) at the time. They asked me to help for a couple of weeks and those two weeks have turned into 23 years. I started off working in field installations with Jim Mercer. We didn’t do much for prefabrication in those days. I became the site supervisor three months into the job. We only had one crew at the time. In 2007, we added another crew, I became Field/Shop Operations Manager and we moved into our own facility and away from Nelson River. As a result, we started our shop operations and focused on fabricating as much as possible in the shop before shipping to site. My responsibilities have increased as the years went by, the shop staff increased, and the number of field crews grew to five. I’ve helped establish a safety department and the variety of systems has also increased. In 2023, my title changed to Director of Manufacturing and Field Operations.

Q: What is your favorite part about Nexom and/or our technologies to talk about and why?

A: My favorite part of Nexom has always been that they have allowed me to be myself, feel appreciated and I am recognized as a contributor to the success of the company.

Q: What do you wish others in the wastewater industry understood that isn’t talked about enough?

A: Wastewater doesn’t always smell bad; it often smells like a bubble bath.

Q: What project or technology have you worked on or completed recently that you’re most proud of and want mentioned here?

A: I’m proud of every project that I have been involved with. We’re always trying to improve efficiency and satisfy our clients. If I had to point out a couple, it would be Cranbrook, BC and Warman, SK.
